DISTRICT AND STATE CALENDAR

Click here to view the updated calendar that lists all district and state thespian events as they become available.

REGISTERING FOR STATE FESTIVAL
The complete packet in its recognizable form, will be on the web after December 14, 2009. After that date, you will be able to open the forms on your computer (as long as you have the latest version of Adobe Reader) and complete the forms on your computer. Math will automatically be figured as you add names and days passes and all name badges will be spelled exactly as you entered them. When you have finished typing the forms on line, you will print them to your printer, enclose your school check and mail everything back to me as usual.

NEW FOR 2010: DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABLITY OF THE US MAIL, WE ARE NO LONGER USING POSTMARKS AS THE WAY TO DETERMINE DEADLINES FOR RECEIVING YOUR REGISTRATION MATERIALS. Starting with Festival 2010, you will need to send your registration materials by a carrier that GUARANTEES DELIVERY WITHIN THE REGISTRATION WINDOW. Likely you will need to use Federal Express, UPS Red Label, or US Postal Express Mail. Remember, we must RECEIVE your packet with the window of dates.

For 2010, your complete registration packet must be RECEIVED between January 27 and February 3, 2010. If a registration packet arrives outside this 9 day window, it will be returned to you.

GOING GREEN
There will be no printed program for Festival 2010. Instead there will be a much smaller reduction of the program highlights on paper. The entirety of the program will be available on the web. Sponsors will need to print all that they need BEFORE they leave for State. This will save lots of money and lots of trees.

ETTIQUETTE VIDEO CONTEST
Click here for the rules and guidelines for the 2010 Theatre Etiquette Video Contest

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS
There will no longer be a callback process for the Junior auditions. Instead they will simply be encouraged to visit the colleges at their tables in the vending area on Friday and Saturday of the Festival.
No school will be allowed to send more then 5 seniors to the scholarship auditions.
No letter of recommendation will be required of any scholarship/college audition.

MAINSTAGES
Mainstages will now receive a rating in addition to the narrative suggestion of the critique
The casts for mainstages that performed at state will be encouraged to meet be available at 12 noon on the day following their mainstage outside the Convention Center by the water to meet anyone that would like to come and meet them and express their gratitude.
The moratorium list, application for mainstaging and sample critique sheet for mainstaging is now on the web. Click here

Remember that NO SCREENING OF MAINSTAGES CAN BE SCHEDULED DURING THE FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF THEATRE EDUCATORS MEETING OR THE FLORIDA THEATRE CONFERENCE. Details are provided on the actual mainstage application.

This year mainstages will available on Thursday and Friday night in Ferguson Hall, TECO Theatre, Tampa Theatre, and Morsani Hall.

CHANGES IN ONE ACTS
Rule Number 1 under “Preliminary and General Considerations” now reads:
All students involved with the one act must be currently enrolled students attending classes at the same school as the Troupe presenting the one act. Home schooled students may be included in a troupe’s production if those students reside within the boundaries of that school. An exception will be made for any sponsor who runs the lights or sound for the production.
All participants in the one act will now get a participation ribbon.

DAY PASS GUIDELINES REMAIN THE SAME
THE ONLY PERSON THAT CAN PURCHASE DAY PASSES IS THE SPONSOR. The sponsor may purchase Day Passes on only two occasions. The first occasion will be in the actual registration packet with the fee included in the big school check. The second occasion to purchase day passes will be at the registration table on the day the troupe registers for the Festival.

This board decision means that every sponsor is going to have to communicate to their parents that they have only 2 chances to purchase day passes to see their child perform. They must either notify you before your registration packet is sent in or you must have their commitment when you register on Wednesday of the festival. Parents will no longer be able to simply drive up at the last moment and expect to get a seat to anything!

The price of day passes is $20 per day/per adult if ordered at pre-registration and $30 per day/per adult if ordered by the sponsor at registration of the Wednesday of the Festival.

Day passes continue to be designed for parents and guardians to come and support their children perform. No student may enter the Festival with a day pass. The only way a student will enter the Festival is by being a fully registered member of an affiliated troupe.

ONLY THOSE DAY PASSES PRE-PURCHASED WITH REGISTRATION WILL BE ABLE TO GET TICKETS TO SEE A MAINSTAGE. All mainstage shows will be sold out by the time the actual registration for state begins on Wednesday.

REGISTRATION FEE
The board has kept the registration fee for Festival 2010 at $80.00.
