NOW IT'S ON TO PLANNING FESTIVAL 2010!

New Junior Thespian State Director Selected for Festival 2011
Good News: We have a Junior Thespian State Director to replace Mr. Jim Usher! On March 2010, after hosting the festival for 10 years, Mr. Jim Usher will be stepping down as Florida State Junior Thespian Director. His replacement as of March 2010 will be Mr. Rod Savickis, Melbourne High School, 74 Bulldog Boulevard, Melbourne, FL 32960. Congratulations to Mr. Savickis and thanks so much to Mr. Usher for ten years of wonderful conferences.

INFORMATION ON YOUR DISTRICT EVENT
Each district chair will be sending out a Welcome to 2009/2010 newsletter.  All newsletters will be mailed out prior to Sepember 14, 2009.  For contact information on your district chair and dates for your district, click here.

BOARD PREPARES FOR THE 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR

The Florida State Thespian board met August 22, 2009 to make revisions to all programming for for the school year. To get a summary of all changes and to view the calendar of events for the year, click here.

FESTIVAL 2010

If a student wishes to compete in scene or costume design for the 2009-2010 school year, the student must choose one of the following plays from:

MUSICALS

Annie Get Your Gun (published by Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization)
Sunday in the Park with George (published by Music Theatre International)
Big River  (published by Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization)


CLASSICS

A Comedy of Errors (public domain)
The Importance of Being Earnest (public domain)


CONTEMPORARY

To Kill a Mockingbird (published by Dramatic Publishing, Inc.)
Arsenic and Old Lace (published by Samuel French, Inc.)


To Prepare for the New School Year:

We ask that every junior high sponsor prepare the following:

Check to make sure that your sponsor name and school address is correctly listed. If you have any corrections send them to the fax/email/address below.
Check your district number. If you wish to be assigned to another district for the sake of convenient travel to the district event, send the correction to the fax/email/address below.
Insure that your STATUS listed above is AFF. If it is, you are correctly affiliated and will receive all registration materials. If your STATUS is listed as NON, you need to call the International Office at 513-421-3900 and see what needs to be done to get your troupe affiliated once more.
Send all comments on rules, events, or festivals to the fax/email/address below.

For more information on your DISTRICT event, please contact your DISTRICT CHAIR on the following sheet. The enclosed sheet lists the six new districts and district leaders.
