Fundraising

The District Representatives and myself have put together afew suggestions for Fundraising. We hope you find some of them helpful. If youhave any suggestions for fundraising please feel free to e-mail me and I wouldlove to add them to this page.

  • Hold an Auction

This "Auction" could be done many ways. #1 You could go around tobusinessesasking them to donate numerous items depending on the business) or gift certificates. Then, you would auction these things off before a play or whenever you foundconvenient to do so. A silent auction always seems to work best. #2 You can makeit a "Date Auction", meaning that you have people bid on people to goon a date with...maybe even see the show with. This can be done live or by ballot (silent), whatever works bestfor you.

  • Hold a "Thespian Showcase"

This is when you get a night organized in which you will perform everything thatyou are planning to bring to State. Since you can not charge admittance (becauseof copy right laws) you can, however ask for donations or sell concessions.

  • Hold a Garage Sale

This is pretty self explanatory. You can start by asking your school and orcommunity to donate any old junk they have laying around that you can turn intocash. (you know, because everyone loves other peoples junk!) You then just haveto find a place to hold the sale. (A church, or parking lot always seems towork, just make sure you have permission)!

  • Sell Candy

This you can do many ways. You can find a company who does this a lot. (Like theM&M candy company) and work out deals with them. Or, you can simply go and purchasecandy yourself and sell it. (Some school have strict rules about selling candyduring school hours, be sure to check with the principle).

  • Hold a Car Wash

Anyone who knows anything about fundraising know about the good old car washidea. This one is very popular because it has very little over head cost. Youjust get a group of students (and parents) together and find a place that willlet you hold a Car Wash in their parking lot. (Wal-Mart, K-Mart and Publix, toname a few, are normally very nice about this).

  • Hold a "Karaoke/Coffee House"

This one takes a lot of work but has proven to be very successful. You mighthave to rent a karaoke machine, but they do not normally cost to much. You musthave a place and night to do it on. It is basically like a big party / Dance. You can charge admission, sell concession's, and do raffles. You can do maythings on this night. It can be a talent show too. This is all what you want tomake of it. (You can tie many fundraisers into this event)!

  • Have a "Teacher fun day"

This is one of the most fun fundraisers that there is. First, you must have allthe teachers who are going to participate sign up, willingly!!! You come up withsomething different that each Teacher must do if they are the"Winner". (Some examples are: Kiss a pig, Color their hair, dress outrageouslyfor a week or so, roller skate, whatever) Once you find out what each teacherwould have to do, you write it down on posters and the students and otherfaculty have to pay to vote on a teacher. The teacher who makes the most money(gets the most vote's) will have to do what they have signed up to do.

Remember, if you have a suggestion to add to this list, just e-mailit to me.
